As part of the prize-giving programme of the Association of Medical University and Legal Lodges ( AMULL), The Universities Lodge of Staffordshire 9907 is proud to announce the presentation of its latest award to the highest achieving Level 4 student on the veterinary sciences course at Keele Staffordshire University

The photograph is of Oriana Shirley receiving her certificate for the best-performing level 4 student 2023/24 from Dave Mazzocchi-Jones, Director of Admissions and Student Experience. Oriana said

‘I’m extremely grateful I found the courage to push past all the people, including myself, who told me I would never make it to vet school. This award means a lot to me as it shows that anyone willing to work hard deserves a place in the veterinary profession

The AMULL Charity.

The AMULL Charity offers both Hardship Grants and Student Bursaries to help students who are experiencing unexpected financial hardship or financial restrictions on pursuing further studies.

Hardship Grants

These grants are intended to help students experiencing unexpected financial hardship or financial restrictions on pursuing further studies. Especially where that financial hardship is more than the usual burden of student debt and there is a realistic risk that the student may not be able to complete their studies. Our grants are not intended to cover the full amount but to provide a lifeline to students who then go on to find additional funding. For this reason, The AMULL Charity aims to respond quickly to applications for Hardship Grants.

Although we would like to be able to offer these awards to all students, due to our size and the funding available, our Hardship Grants are currently only available to students who are members of an AMULL member Lodge.

Student Bursaries

Student Bursaries are usually presented at our Annual Festival (held in September/October). Bursary recipients are notified as soon as possible after a decision is made. Bursaries contribute to the recipient’s ability to pursue a new course of study. Typically, that study would have been impossible without The AMULL Charity’s contribution. The Bursary is not intended to cover the entire cost of study but assist the student in meeting it.
Applications may be made up to 12 months before the planned start of studies and decisions are made as quickly as possible. Payment is made when the applicant meets all entry requirements and confirms that they have registered for studies. However, the award is guaranteed if these conditions are met.

Student Bursaries are available to all students in higher education, including non-Freemasons and irrespective of gender.
